The winners of the World Meteorological Organization’s annual photography competition to find eye-catching weather, climate and water photographs for next year’s calendar have been announced, and they are truly breathtaking.
World Meteorological Organization’s 2022 Calendar Competition Winners
BrightVibes is delighted to present the winning photos for the World Meteorological Organization’s (WMO) 2022 calendar! Following the public voting on the 60 shortlisted photographs, a WMO jury of meteorologists and photographers selected 14 photos for the calendar (one per month, plus two cover photos).
The final selection was based on votes, photographic merit and meteorological interest. The jury also took into account geographical and regional balance in accordance with WMO’s stature as a United Nations organization.
WMO said the final selection was extremely difficult because of the outstanding quality of many of the over 1,100 photographs which were submitted. WMO send a huge thank you to all of those who shared their photographs, and they would also like to thank the thousands of people who voted for their favourite photos on Facebook and Instagram.
